Goldstein attended the Consortium for ocean leadership in the year 2013. In this concert, she talked about “How I learned to stop worrying and love the garbage patch.” She holds a Ph.D. from the Scripps Institution of Ocean. Goldstein says that it is very important for people to take care of the ocean and marine life. This should be done by avoiding the bad habit of disposing of garbage in the water bodies especially the plastic waste since they are responsible for polluting water bodies and for that reason, water creatures suffocate to death since their living environment is tampered with.
Plastics bags are a major problem since they are non-bio degradable. Since they cannot decompose, this means that they will forever affect animals living in the ocean. In this conference, she clearly showed her affection for marine creatures and the scientific and biological ways in which the existence of these creatures affects human beings and why we as human beings should create an environment where we can co-exist with the marine creatures since we are all useful to one another. She has also appeared in CNN’s CBS show where she addressed the issue of the upsurge in plastic debris floating in a zone between California and Hawaii. She was also hosted on the BBC show and NPR science Friday.
