I love making these easy smoothie recipes for breakfast, quick meals, or healthy snacks, and my kids love them too. Whipping up any of these simple 5-minute smoothie ideas is the easiest way to sneak in all the fruits and veggies my family needs, and they are just so tasty. Fruity, healthy, and fast, there’s no better type of drink for mornings on the go!

How to Make Simple Homemade Smoothies

Smoothies are one of the easiest things to make–just blend up a handful of ingredients and you have a tasty beverage ready to go in about 5 minutes! The best part is that they’re really satiating, so I always feel full, even if I don’t have time to cook.

I have a few basic components in each of my smoothie recipes to help me make something delicious with whatever I have on hand: a liquid base (like water or milk); a combo of fruits and/or veggies (bananas, berries, greens, etc.); and some extras for the right texture or flavor (ex. yogurt, nut butters, sweeteners). It’s a simple formula that always turns out great! I often just check whatever is stocked in my freezer or pantry and go from there.

Luckily my kids love homemade smoothies too, because it’s not always easy getting them to eat the fruits and veggies they need. So blending up healthy ingredients into a sweet little drink turns it into a fun and exciting treat for them!

These are some of my favorite smoothie recipes to make, whether I just need a quick breakfast or an easy way to fill up on nutrients. I hope these ideas can inspire you to make your own too!

Fruit Smoothie Recipes

Fresh and frozen fruits are the best homemade smoothie ingredients–bananas, mangos, berries, avocados…there are so many great options! These easy recipes are filled with all kinds of fruits, and you can easily swap them out for slightly different flavor combos.

This mango smoothie recipe is the perfect pick-me-up to jump-start groggy mornings. I kept things simple with just 3 ingredients: mangoes, milk, and honey! Quick, healthy, and oh-so refreshing, this smoothie always brightens my mornings. It’s the perfect low-calorie treat for an on-the-go breakfast or mid-morning snack.

side view of a mango smoothie in a glass with mango chunks on top.

I’m a big smoothie lover, but gathering up all the various fruits and powders always feels so tedious. This mango smoothie recipe is super simple, though– no fancy or complicated ingredients required. I always keep frozen mango in my freezer for this smoothie. It just makes me happy and makes me look forward to getting out of bed in the mornings!

What’s in This Mango Smoothie Recipe?

  • Frozen Mango: Using frozen rather than fresh fruit makes this smoothie super rich and creamy. It also means we don’t have to add any ice, which can dilute the flavors.
  • Milk: I recommend almond milk or skim milk to keep this smoothie healthy and low-calorie, but any milk will work. I think coconut would be delish!
  • Honey: Adds a touch of floral sweetness. Maple syrup or agave would also work.
mango chunks and milk in a blender.

Tips for Success

  • While milk gives this drink a more creamy flavor and texture, you can make a scrumptious smoothie with just a splash of water or juice.
  • Add a scoop of protein powder to this smoothie for a tasty and nutritious smoothie to keep you going all morning long!
  • If you like your smoothie a little thinner, simply add more milk after blending, and more mango if you prefer it thicker.
  • You can turn this little smoothie into a creamy cocktail. Just add a little bit of tequila or vodka and cheers! You’ve got yourself one dreamy dessert for happy hour!

How to Store

Fruit smoothies are best enjoyed as soon as they are made, as once the fruits are blended they start to slowly lose their nutrients. This mango smoothie will keep well covered in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

Serving Suggestions

This quick and easy mango smoothie recipe is a great low-cal breakfast or snack all by itself, but I like to pair it with my Starbucks copycat egg bites or a few handfuls of my favorite trail mix when I’m on the go all day.

I’m a dialysis patient and it was taking too much out of me. I found this recipe when I got home, and Hubby made me some. YUMMY! I will make this again. Thank you for the recipe. I can’t think of a better autumn drink than a warm glass of homemade apple cider. I love it so much that I decided to learn how to make apple cider right at home, and it’s surprisingly easy! All I needed were apples, tangerines, spices, and a little bit of brown sugar. With a long simmer on the stove, this cider turned out so delicious!

a glass of apple cider topped with an apple slice and a cinnamon stick.

I can’t believe I never tried my hand at homemade apple cider before. It’s so simple to make with just a few minutes of prep and lots of hands-free time on the stove. Simmering quartered apples– peels and all– makes this cider so flavorful. Plus, it made my house smell absolutely heavenly! I highly recommend starting up a pot before company arrives!

What’s in This Homemade Apple Cider Recipe?

  • Apples: I recommend choosing a variety of tart and sweet apples to create a complex flavor. I like Granny Smith, Braeburn, Honey Crisp, and Gala.
  • Tangerines: Add balancing tartness to the cider so it’s not too sweet. Feel free to leave them out if you’re not a fan, or you can use another type of orange.
  • Cinnamon + Cloves: Add warmth and depth to the cider. I recommend using whole spices to avoid a grainy texture.
  • Brown Sugar: Adds a touch of sweetness and molasses flavor, but maple syrup also works well. Of course, feel free to adjust to your personal tastes.
ingredients for homemade apple cider.

Tips for Success

  • I left the peels on my apples for extra flavor, but you can certainly peel them if you prefer.
  • When I want more of a spiced apple cider, I like to add 3-4 slices of fresh ginger, 1 whole nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon of allspice berries. A few tangerine peels are also nice!
  • I like to place my spices in a muslin bag or reusable teabag so I don’t have to fish them out later.
  • To make in a slow cooker, place on low heat for 6-7 hours.
  • Use any leftover apple pulp in these applesauce chocolate chip cookies or breakfast cookies.

How to Store and Reheat

Store leftover homemade apple cider in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Enjoy chilled or reheat in a pot over medium-low for 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently.

If you end up with a lot of leftovers, I like to freeze some in ice cube trays and use them in my favorite apple cocktails, like these apple cider margaritas or sparkling apple pie on the rocks.

Serving Suggestions

This homemade apple cider is so delicious all by itself or with a little bit of rum or vodka mixed in. It’s also perfect for making my favorite apple cider mimosas or apple cider mojitos. I also like to use it in my cooking, particularly in this apple cider sauce and my favorite apple ginger glazed ham!

Skip the Starbucks drive-thru and make my homemade pumpkin spice latte recipe instead! I use real pumpkin in my sauce, plus pumpkin pie spices and a couple of other simple ingredients to create the best flavor for this cozy PSL dupe. Whip up this fall favorite coffee drink and enjoy!

large clear mug with hot PSL topped with cream.

I’m a PSL addict, but this year, I’m looking to make some better choices for myself and my wallet. My pumpkin latte recipe features a homemade pumpkin sauce made with real pumpkin puree, cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla. I make the sauce in bulk and store it in the fridge so I can have a pumpkin spice latte any time the mood strikes.

What’s in This Pumpkin Latte Recipe?

  • Espresso: Espresso will give your latte the best flavor, but you can also use strong coffee made by another method.
  • Pumpkin Puree: Use a can of plain pumpkin puree as the base of the pumpkin spice sauce.
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice: This mix of warm spices adds the classic pumpkin spice flavor.
  • Sugar: I recommend using cane sugar for the sauce, but you can use granulated sugar, brown sugar, or a sugar alternative instead.
  • Vanilla Extract: Adds just a hint of vanilla flavor.
  • Ground Ginger: Adds a warm kick to the pumpkin syrup. You can skip this if you like, but I think it creates just the right taste.
  • Milk: I like to use 2% milk, but you can use 1% if you prefer. You can also make this latte with plant-based milk if you prefer. Oat milk is usually the best milk alternative for achieving the same frothy latte.
overhead image of hands holding a pumpkin spice latte.

Tips for Success

  • I like to use freshly brewed espresso for the best flavor, but you can you instant coffee if you are in a pinch.
  • You can also make this pumpkin latte with chai instead of espresso.
  • When heating the milk in the microwave, be careful to watch it to make sure it doesn’t overflow. You can also heat it up on the stovetop.
  • Turn this into an iced pumpkin spice latte so you can enjoy it in the late summer months too. Just pour over ice and enjoy!

How to Store and Reheat

I recommend drinking this pumpkin latte hot and fresh because leftovers won’t taste as good after refrigeration. But if you have any extra pumpkin sauce, let it cool, then store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. You can warm it up and use it in your next latte!

large clear mug of homemade pumpkin spice latte topped with whipped cream.

Serving Suggestions

I like to finish off my pumpkin latte with whipped cream or my homemade pumpkin whipped cream, and a dash of nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice. You can also drizzle some caramel sauce or chocolate syrup on top, or in the cup before pouring in your latte, for a little more indulgence.

Enjoy it with fresh baked goods, like my pumpkin chocolate chip bread or pumpkin bars.

There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a huge pitcher of homemade sweet tea! I always find the store bought iced teas, well, too sweet–plus they’re packed full of ingredients that really don’t need to be in it. So instead I’m showing you how to make sweet tea that tastes as good as this classic Southern drink should, but with less than 100 calories per serving. The best part is that this sweetened black tea will be cold and ready to drink in less than 20 minutes!

Homemade sweet tea served in a glass with a lemon slice.

If, like me, you’re from the Midwest or the South, then you know how integral fresh, homemade sweet tea is to a good meal, potluck, or family gathering. Before this recipe (originally my Mom’s), I always ran into 2 problems: dissolving sugar into iced tea can be tedious, and everyone wanted different levels of sweetness. But making sweet tea with a simple syrup is the perfect solution to both problems! Now everyone can sweeten their tea by the glass, and there’ll be no surprise mounds of sugar granules left at the bottom of the cup.

Ingredients for Sweet Iced Tea

  • Sugar: Use granulated cane sugar for the simple syrup. You can also use super-fine sugar, coconut sugar, or brown sugar.
  • Water: You’ll need 1 cup of water to make the simple syrup, and another 7-8 cups to make a ½ gallon (2 quarts) of iced tea.
  • Tea Bags: I use cold brew tea bags so that I don’t have to chill the tea before serving–it’s ready as soon as the tea is done brewing! Use 2-3 family-sized tea bags for a ½ gallon of sweet tea.
A pitcher of sweet tea, a jar of simple syrup, glasses of ice, and tea bags arranged on a countertop.

Tips for Success

  • Simply double the recipe to make a gallon of iced tea (use 4-5 family-sized tea bags).
  • I usually make the simple syrup ahead of time so that it’s ready to use with freshly-brewed tea.
  • I let the tea brew between 5-15 minutes, depending on how patient I feel. The longer you let tea brew, the deeper and more flavorful it will become–though past 25 minutes it can start to taste bitter.
  • I like to garnish my iced tea with fresh mint and citrus slices, but that’s optional!
  • Black tea is the classic option for Southern-style sweet tea, but you can make this recipe with other types as well. I recommend trying it with green tea!

How to Store

Store the simple syrup in a heat-resistant, airtight jar or container. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 1 month, which means you can make it ahead of time.

Store sweet iced tea in a pitcher (or another container) in the refrigerator. I recommend drinking it within 48 hours of brewing for the best taste–it will start to taste bitter after a couple of days.

Short and tall glasses of Southern sweet iced tea.

A Note on Tea Bag Sizes

A family-size tea bag makes 1 quart of tea, so I use 2-3 in this homemade sweet tea recipe to make 2 quarts (equivalent to a ½ gallon)–that extra bag just makes the tea stronger. 1 family-size bag is equal to 4 regular-sized bags (these are formulated to make one 8 ounce cup each). So if you’re using regular-sized tea bags for this recipe, you’ll need 8 bags to make the 2 quarts of sweet iced tea as directed.

There are few things better on a hot summer day than a root beer float! I mean, what could be better…? How ’bout this: an alcoholic root beer float! It’s a fun twist on an old favorite, combining three of my favorite things: good root beer, vanilla bean ice cream, and vanilla vodka.

When summer is in full swing, I love to mix up my cocktail game with a cold, refreshing alcoholic root beer float! This is one of my favorite summertime treats: so simple, so tasty.

What’s in This Alcoholic Root Beer Float Recipe?

  • Vanilla Vodka: I like Smirnoff. It’s smooth and clean tasting. Whipped cream-flavored vodka would also work well.
  • Vanilla Ice Cream: Use your favorite brand, and if you can get vanilla bean, go for it!
  • Root Beer: Everybody will have their own thoughts on this, but my favorite root beer brand has always been IBC. My dad used to buy it by the case and swear, there was no better root beer in America. I have tried many different types and have never found one I like better. This drink will work with whatever your favorite type is, so try to locate whichever brand brings back the best memories.

Tips for Success

  • Serve with a straw and a spoon!
  • Pour the root beer slowly at an angle to reduce fizz and the risk of overflow.
  • Start with two scoops, but you can use more if you prefer to enjoy your floats with a spoon instead of a straw.
  • Put mugs in the freezer for 30 minutes before serving time for frosted glasses.
  • Top with whipped cream and a cherry.

Serving Suggestions

Enjoy this creamy, boozy root beer float with classic diner dishes, like burgers, chicken sandwiches, french fries, or chili dogs.

They’re super refreshing on a hot day paired with barbecue staples, like grilled chicken, St. Louis ribs, or pulled pork. Or, sate your sweet tooth by pairing them with a slice of New York cheesecake or cherry pie!

I absolutely love mixing up delicious cocktails for parties, and this Margarita pitcher recipe has been a longtime favorite in my rotation. It’s a recipe I developed with my mom years ago, and to this day, we both agree—it’s hands-down the best pitcher cocktail we’ve ever made. I love serving these bright, crowd-pleasing margaritas at family gatherings or when friends come over. They’re made with simple, fresh ingredients and always disappear fast! One of my favorite things about this recipe is how easy it is to scale—whether you’re making drinks for two or twenty-four, the recipe card shows you exactly how to do it.

“LOVE this recipe! It’s my go-to margarita recipe – everyone loves it! I completely agree the reposado makes all the difference! – Sarah

I love this batch margarita pitcher recipe because it tastes fresh, isn’t too sweet, and it’s made with simple ingredients. It is super smooth, so watch out! I make this whenever we’re having friends over, and it never misses. It works great as a single serving or as an entire pitcher. You’re going to love this!

Tips for Success

  • Choose a good-quality Reposado tequila (I find this is absolutely key!) for the smoothest, best-tasting margaritas.
  • I like to keep my tequila in the freezer to create the coldest margarita recipe possible with the least amount of ice. I don’t want to water this deliciousness down!
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice is the key to a delicious margarita. If you want an even fresher taste, you can add a splash of freshly squeezed orange juice!
  • These Margaritas are not very sweet. If you would like them sweeter, just add more agave syrup to taste.
  • If you want salted glass rims, cover the bottom of a small plate with margarita salt. Rub the rims of the glasses with a lime wedge, dip the rims in the margarita salt, and set the glasses upright to dry a tad before filling them with ice.
  • You can batch these margaritas a day early, but it’s important to shake the margaritas before serving. Add 2-4 servings to a shaker with ice right before serving, and repeat for each serving. Makes all the difference. Your guests will thank you!

Variations on Margarita Pitchers

  • Mezcal Margaritas: Swap the Reposado tequila for your favorite brand of Mezcal for smoky margaritas.
  • Spicy Margaritas: Muddle a few jalapeño slices in the bottom of each glass before pouring in the margarita, or add some chili powder to the salt rim.
  • Skinny Margaritas: Follow my skinny margarita recipe!
  • Virgin Margaritas: Swap the tequila for sparkling water and the Cointreau for orange juice. Batch these mocktails without the sparkling water (it’ll cause your shaker to leak), then top them off with sparkling water just before serving.

How to Store

I store leftover pitcher margaritas tightly covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 8 hours. Shake individual drinks over ice in a cocktail shaker just before serving. In the recipe card, you can find a link to my favorite shakers!

Serving Suggestions

I think that a pitcher of margaritas is the best easy cocktail for Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Serve them up with Baked Chicken Tacos, White Queso, Mexican Street Corn Dip, Chicken Nachos, or Homemade Tortilla Chips and Salsa.

I can’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo without a few margaritas and tequila cocktail recipes on the menu to pair with all of the tasty tacos. But I like to have some mocktails and non-alcoholic drink ideas ready to go too, including some traditional Mexican drinks that beg to be served every year when May 5th rolls around. These easy Cinco de Mayo drinks (with and without alcohol) are the perfect thing to serve with Mexican food for any fiesta!

Easy Drink Recipes for Cinco de Mayo

When curating my Cinco de Mayo menu, I’m always thinking about the drinks and cocktails as much as the food. Classic margaritas are a must, of course, but why stop there?

This is the perfect holiday to pull out some tequila cocktails to pair with chicken tacos, empanadas, and my favorite queso. Plus I make every flavor of marg I can think of. And I can’t forget the traditional Mexican drink recipes, like fruity Mangonadas and refreshing agua fresca.

There’s plenty of room for mocktails and non-alcoholic Cinco de Mayo drinks too, plus frozen drinks to balance out the heat of my favorite Mexican dishes. Whenever it comes to celebrations, I never skimp on the drinks!

Cinco de Mayo Margarita Ideas

It wouldn’t be a real Cinco de Mayo celebration without a few margaritas, and these are my favorite margarita recipes to make (and drink) for the occasion.

  • Skinny Margarita: You can’t beat a classic marg for Cinco de Mayo…unless you make this skinny version, which is just as tasty with about half the calories.
  • Strawberry Basil Margarita: The mix of fruity strawberries and punchy basil creates a lightly sweet and herbal cocktail flavor.
  • Blood Orange Margarita: I love the vibrant color that blood oranges add to this drink, and of course the flavor is great too!
  • Spicy Cucumber Margaritas: Refreshing cucumbers and spicy jalapenos create the most deliciously addicting flavor twist. These are always a favorite on Cinco de Mayo!
  • Watermelon Margaritas: Juicy, sweet watermelon is the best flavor for a quick cocktail. You’ll want to bring these back to make all summer long!
  • Blue Margaritas: I used Blue Curacao to get the bold azul color of these fun margaritas. They’re sure to add a pop of color to the Cinco de Mayo drink menu!
  • Spicy Mango Margaritas: The combo of a mango margarita with a spicy hot sauce and chili rim is reminiscent of Mangonadas, which makes it the perfect cocktail idea for Cinco!

Mexican Drinks and Cocktails

These traditional Mexican drinks are a must for any Cinco de Mayo party. I also love putting a spin on these drink and cocktail ideas with unique flavor additions to spice things up.

  • Mangonadas: If you’re looking for well-known Mexican drinks for Cinco de Mayo, this is the one you just have to try. A super refreshing mango drink with a sweet, spicy, and tangy twist.
  • Pineapple Agua Fresca: You only need a few ingredients to make this fruity water, and it’s perfect for washing down chips and queso!
  • Blood Orange Palomas: Palomas are a classic Mexican tequila cocktail, traditionally made with grapefruit-flavored soda. The addition of blood orange is a nice little twist, with a similar citrus-y flavor.
  • Jalapeno Margaritas: Jalapeno peppers give just the right amount of heat to these ‘ritas. I love that extra kick of flavor while chowing down on guacamole!
  • Mexican Hot Chocolate: This creamy, rich chocolate drink is mixed with cinnamon for a little kick of heat and spice that’s just irresistible.

Tequila Cocktail Recipes

Tequila is my liquor of choice for any fiesta, and these cocktails are all perfect for Mexican food, tacos, and all the delicious party food.

  • Blackberry Palomas: Blackberries, honey, and mint create a new and amazing flavor for this traditional Mexican cocktail.
  • Day of the Dead Cocktail: Though originally made with Dia de Los Muertos in mind, this unique tequila cocktail recipe is perfect for Cinco de Mayo too!
  • Tequila Sunrise: This is such a fun and colorful cocktail, made with orange juice, Grenadine, tequila, and beer.
  • Beer Margarita: No one can resist two greats in one! This 3-ingredient beergarita is perfectly lime-y, and just so darn tasty!
  • Strawberry Palomas: I absolutely love strawberry anything–here it combines beautifully with grapefruit juice, tequila, and ginger beer.

Non-alcoholic Cinco de Mayo Drinks

It’s always a good idea to have some mocktails and alcohol-free drink recipes to balance things out. Trust me, these recipes are just as exciting as the cocktails, plus they’re great for kids and adults alike!

  • Mock Sangria: Cranberry and blood orange juices mingle with club soda for a refreshing non-alcoholic drink that’s made for a crowd.
  • Frozen Caramel Hot Chocolate: This treat is icy, chocolatey, and indulgent-ly delicious! Enjoy it after a feast of Mexican food for the perfect finish to the day.
  • Simple Mango Smoothies: If the kids want a simpler alternative to the mangonadas on Cinco de Mayo, this quick 3-ingredient beverage will do the trick!
  • Orange Julius: This sweet and creamy drink fills me with nostalgia, and it’s so good to sip on a warm day.
  • Limeade: This is basically a margarita without the alcohol–just lots of deliciously sweet and tart lime flavor, and it goes well with tacos!

Easy Cocktails for a Crowd

Why mix individual cocktails for every single party guest when you could quickly whip up enough for everyone in one go? These pitcher cocktails and party punches are a life-saver for holidays like Cinco de Mayo!

  • Strawberry Margarita Punch: Strawberry margaritas and party punch in one beverage? Champagne and lemon-lime soda add a fizzy finish to this drink, making it perfect for a crowd at any Cinco de Mayo celebration!
  • Pitcher Margarita: Bring out a pitcher of margaritas and you know it’s a party! This scaleable drink recipe means you can make as much as you need.
  • Strawberry Lemonade Party Punch: The sweet and tart flavor of strawberry lemonade is mixed with your alcohol of choice and some bubbly soda. You only need a few minutes to whip this up!
  • Sweet Tea Sangria: Sweet tea is the perfect beverage for Mexican food if you ask me–add some moscato and fruit, and you have an even more fun and fresh party drink!
  • Pitcher Mojitos: I’m a big fan of any time-saving trick when hosting parties, so making a big batch of mojitos at once is way better than making one at a time.
  • Rose Sangria: This sangria is light, sweet, and fruity. Just whip it up and let it sit in the fridge the night before Cinco so it’s ready to serve!

Frozen Margaritas

Frozen Cinco de Mayo Drink Ideas

I just love a frozen, icy, chilled drink for parties once we start nearing summer. So Cinco de Mayo is the perfect time to serve up frozen margaritas, frozen rose, and the rest of these frozen cocktail recipes.

  • Frozen Margarita: May 5th is prime time to whip up an icy margarita. All you need is a few ingredients and a blender!
  • Raspberry Mango Daiquiris: Raspberry and mango layer together in a creamy, icy, blended cocktail that’s just so fun to sip on.
  • Frozen Strawberry Margarita: Add strawberry to your frozen margs for a sweeter, fruiter twist!
  • Frozen Peach Margaritas: Don’t worry, we have yet another flavor for your frozen Cinco de Mayo margaritas! Peach adds a juicy, sweet flavor.
  • Strawberry Frose: Grab a bottle of rose and some frozen strawberries, blend, and you’ll have a fun Cinco de Mayo cocktail idea ready to serve!
  • Peach Frose: If peach is more your style, this fruity wine cocktail is the way to go. I like serving both flavors so everyone can choose their favorite.
  • Pina Coladas: Coconut and pineapple blend together in this creamy frozen pina colada, and it’s sure to make you feel like you’re on holiday.

Add these easy Cinco de Mayo drinks to your menu and it’s sure to be a real fiesta!

This homemade Chai Latte recipe is quick and easy to make, with all the warm spices and cozy flavor of chai tea. With just the right amount of milkiness and plenty of froth on top, this latte is better than anything you can get in a drive-thru!

Two mugs of chai latte with cinnamon and star anise.

What’s in This Chai Latte Recipe?

  • Vanilla: Pure vanilla extract adds wonderful warmth to this latte.
  • Spices: Ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves are all warming spices with a bit of holiday cheer!
  • Tea: Black tea is the base of this chai. We like Assam or Darjeeling best, but any black tea will work. Make sure to brew it strong since we’ll be adding milk.
  • Milk: Any type of milk works wonderfully in this recipe; however, whole dairy milk will froth the best.
  • Maple Syrup: Adds a touch of nutty sweetness. Adjust to your personal tastes.

Notes from the Test Kitchen

Warming spices, vanilla extract, and nutty black tea create a warm and comforting cup. Milk adds a velvety texture to this latte that’ll warm you up on even the coldest of days!

Variations on a Chai Tea Latte

You can change up the flavor of this latte by adding different flavoring syrups in place of the maple syrup. Apple syrup, pumpkin syrup, or caramel sauce would all be delicious! You can also make a dirty chai by adding a shot of espresso.

Two mugs with milk froth, cinnamon and star anise.

How to Store and Reheat

If you have leftovers, store your chai latte tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a pot set over medium-low heat or in the microwave until warmed through.

Serving Suggestions

We like to enjoy an afternoon chai latte with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top and a cookie for dunking. Our favorite to pair with this spicy drink is a classic shortbread cookie so as not to detract from the flavors. A gingerbread cookie would be a great holiday pairing that enhances the spices.

If you’re not a coffee drinker, this chai latte makes a perfect breakfast pick-me-up served with cake mix coffee cake, cinnamon rolls, or classic bacon and eggs.

You can keep this hot chocolate warm in the crockpot for up to 2 hours!

Is hot chocolate good with water instead of milk?

I do not recommend attempting this recipe with water instead of milk, as it doesn’t use hot cocoa mix. Some brands of hot cocoa mix include dry milk powder in the ingredients so you can just add water, but this recipe will not work.
